Nina Angelina …

Little Nina Angelina  is a One-of-A-kind art doll and entirely made by hand. No moulds were used in her creation  and none made of the original afterwards. She comes with her swing, a Photo Certificate of Authenticity and her very own story  book with her story in it … Nina was sold before i even finished writing her story, and she is off to live with a very lovely lady who is hoping to travel the world with her …

DSCF5124 DSCF5082 birdie3

Nina’s swing was made from wire, and decorated with beads, thread, ribbon, flowers and a little key hanging from a chain. It has a ring at the top, so it can be hung, and a heart shaped seat for Nina to perch upon, with a ribbon to hold her safely in place …

On one hand Nina is holding a little friend, a clay and wire bird, hand painted with a wire beak, her other hand can be attatched to the arm of the swing with a ribbon around her wrist.

Nina’s head was sculpted from clay and painted with acrylic paint before being sealed with a matt varnish for protection. Her hair is made with wool and decorated with a wire headpiece decorated with beads and flowers.

Her body was also sculpted from clay over wire, and her limbs from wood and clay with bead and ribbon joints to enable movement. All her clothes are also hand-made and hand stitched by me. She wears white lace stockings with bead decoration and a lilac voile  dress, with a long ruff trail, also decorated with lots of hand sewn beads and ribbons. Her arms have more voiles and ribbons and bead details on them, and she is wearing a pair of ballet pumps on her feet.

b8birdie5 on her back are a pair of hand made white feather wings…

Birdie’s cage can either remain free standing or be hung from the hoop at the top… the cage is approx. 38 cm / 15 inches tall.  Birdie can come out of the cage if you wish to free her! as she is only tied to her swing…

267

272

253She is made from clay over a wire frame, as is the bird in her hand. Her cage and swing are made from wire, beads and ribbon.  Her outfit is handsewn with handsewn beadwork and her feathery tail is made from fabric and beads. She is a one of a kind art doll and is not made for children due to small parts and wire!

Poor little Birdie, so forlorn, she forever gazes upwards longing to grow wings and fly…

busy working on two new sculptural pieces….

034

001I have been busy working away on two new pieces…a Frida Kahlo and the ticket collector…still lots to do, but here is how they are going…

She’s finished! Just have to work on the box now… the white ribbon has a Frida Quote ” Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly.” Her red boots have embroidered flowers on the toes and little bells tied with blue ribbon.

053

She has a palette with acrylic paint on and a little paint brush… little earrings in the shape of hands…

059 Flowers in her hair…

057

074

005

the ticket collector is ( like the bug catcher ) another piece inspired by one of my ink drawings…

IMG_0029

…he still needs lots of work…

006

…his face is ready to paint and he is waiting patiently for me to make his hat and goggles!

011

His legs are ready for painting…but i am busy making his boots as I write this… his ticket machine is finished! It whirs andclicks in a lovely clockwork manner when the handle is pushed up and down…

009

…which spins the tickets inside…

008

and when the button is pushed, the red stop sign moves in and reveals a green go sign.

004

His gloved hands ….

016

…are now attatched and ready to paint…then he needs his jacket…and of course, his wings, which will open and close!

014

051

I have finished his  gloves, and added his ticket machine…he is pulling out a ticket with one hand, the other hand is holding onto one of the steering handles, which also has a compass on it,
