I am so excited to be exhibiting two pieces in the Cat Lore and other Superstitions exhibition at the fabulous Inverarity gallery. The first one is a framed graphite drawing, and the second one is a 3d sculpt of the drawing on a wooden plaque, which has a hook on the back to hang it from a wall.

R is for Reaper
I am so excited to be exhibiting in the end of year Bad Apple exhibition ‘A is for Apple’ at the AMAZING Inverarity Gallery this November….I was given the letter R🙌👻🖤 and decided to make my La Morte drawing come to life (with an art doll and horse) – because R is for Reaper, of course!

R is for Reaper…
Ooak art doll.
She is a mix of air dry and polymer clay over a wire frame, with a needle felt over wire torso. Her outfit is a mix of new and recycled fabrics, with crochet chainmail and armour created from a mix of jewelry findings.

Her crown is metal decorated with a polymer clay skull, and has a black and gold veil attached to the back.

Her unicorn horse is also a mix of air dry and polymer clay over a wire frame, with a clay saddle decorated with metal jewelry findings.

Her scythe is a mix of wood, clay , fabric and resin. The base is wooden, and decorated with air dry and polymer clay skulls and flowers. To the top of her scythe she’s approximately 60cm tall.

Familiar Spirits
https://www.inveraritygallery.com/product/familiar-spirits/
My latest art doll is now exhibiting and available to buy at the fabulous Inverarity Gallery, in ‘nine lives- the return of the cat’!
Link above🖤🐱
The little witch is made from clay over a wire and fabric frame, and is handpainted. She is wearing little faux leather boots and stripey stockings under vintage cotton bloomers. Her grey dress has embroidered and lace details. Her hat is made from cotton, trimmed with lace and has a hand made little crow skull attached to it. She wears a tiny planchette with an all-seeing eye around her neck and is holding another planchette in her hand, and in the centre of her forehead is a light catching shiny silver star. Her two ‘familiars’ are needle felted over wire frames and are both wearing little bells on ribbons and bows around their necks. The black and grey cat has a half moon on his forehead. They are seated in a glass dome, on a wooden base- handpainted Ouija board. The dome can be removed and the doll can be taken off the base, but she is fixed in a kneeling position. Beware , one of the cats is a bit grumpy!
Cat Exhibition

Little Red Riding Hood and Evangeline the Dancer are both off on adventures….
Both Little Red and Evangeline have packed their bags and are off on exciting adventures to new places … Little Red Riding Hood is joining Fran on her move into a new home, and Evangeline is travelling all the way to Chile!!!!! How exciting !
Only Alicia remains in my etsy shop … waiting to be rescued ….
busy working on two new sculptural pieces….
I have been busy working away on two new pieces…a Frida Kahlo and the ticket collector…still lots to do, but here is how they are going…
the back piece is a hand embroidered cross stitch portrait of Frida with a gold thread crochet frame….Frida and her deer are ready to be painted, wigged and costumed. I am busy hand embroidering two side panels…
…for the box base, which i have painted in acrylic like clouds. Her right hand is in a wierd postion because she will be holding something!
I have painted her, made her hair and clothes and painted her friend…still to make her boots, jewellry and flowers for her hair…
still got lots to do! Keep checking back here as I will update scrolling down.
She’s finished! Just have to work on the box now… the white ribbon has a Frida Quote ” Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly.” Her red boots have embroidered flowers on the toes and little bells tied with blue ribbon.
She has a palette with acrylic paint on and a little paint brush… little earrings in the shape of hands…
she has bunting along the sides…now I need to work on the box which has perspex sides, front and roof, with embroidered panels on the lower haves of the two sides…
I have now finished the box…and added the hand embroidered side panels…
and a little title sign at the top…
She is now all finished!!! the box has three clear sides and a clear perspex roof to allow lots of light!
the ticket collector is ( like the bug catcher ) another piece inspired by one of my ink drawings…
…he still needs lots of work…
…his face is ready to paint and he is waiting patiently for me to make his hat and goggles!
His legs are ready for painting…but i am busy making his boots as I write this… his ticket machine is finished! It whirs andclicks in a lovely clockwork manner when the handle is pushed up and down…
…which spins the tickets inside…
and when the button is pushed, the red stop sign moves in and reveals a green go sign.
His gloved hands ….
…are now attatched and ready to paint…then he needs his jacket…and of course, his wings, which will open and close!
I have painted his face and trousers, finished making his boots…
Finished his boots and knee pads….
and his elbow pads….and jacket…
the straps are part of the harness I’m making for his wings…finishing gloves next…
He keeps urging me to hurry and finish as he has work to do, tickets to check, flying between the floating buses in the world he belongs..I’m doing my best! Check back soon to see how it is going!
I have finished his gloves, and added his ticket machine…he is pulling out a ticket with one hand, the other hand is holding onto one of the steering handles, which also has a compass on it,
I have made his goggles, and the bottle of air sickness tablets he carries with him…and his hat…
His extras…goggles, air sickness tablets, maps and leather bound journal…
which tuck into the space between his backpack and himself!
I have also finished his wings…which open…
his base is all finished and signed.
close up of his machine!
Just got to write his story now…..
more work on the music man…
here are some more pictures of the work i have been doing on the music man mixed media sculpture…
the legs are on the big drum…
the hat is now attached so it raises when the string is pulled…
making the wheels …
attaching wheels to the legs…
making the drum sticks for the back drum…
attaching the sticks so the alternate hitting the drum…
side views
leather funnel
adding the bells and chimes that ring when the wheels turn…
nearly finished…just have to paint some of the bits i have added …paint the base etc etc etc…!!!!!!
working on the trumpet
just have to make the mouth piece!
and finally actually working on the little girl’s push along horse
I better hurry and finish it for her before she looses her patience!
will update with more pics soon!
Still busy working away on the art doll duo’s accessories…
I am still making the accessories but here is a quick look at what I have been doing…it may explain why the man is standing in a strange position… it is all made from recycling bits of junk and unwanted things …
a tiny tambourine, pipework, funnel and the beginnings of a drum…
and pipework.
working on two drums…
small drum
big drum
adding cymbals to the pipework… and making sure they clash when string pulled
trying the drum on for size …
he seems pleased! He is wearing a harmonica in a holder around his neck.
working on the stand…
the little girl trying out the stand…still lots to do on it …
adding the cymbals and tambourine…
making the drum sticks which will bash the big drum, single cymbal and tambourine.
and a strange trumpet-like instrument which he will be holding in his hands…
still got lots to do … but I will keep adding the pictures as I go…
… meanwhile she’s patiently waiting for her accessory!
